Juneau, Alaska

Hello SERR!

My name is Philip Dierking, and in case you don't know me I am a Juneau resident an active participant in the SERR races.  I was a former JDHS cross cuontry runner, and am a 2007 graduate from Western Washington University.

Essentially I want to know if SERR, or any of the members of the organization (or Juneau at large), would be interested in supporting both an expat Juneauite, and an important cause.

Currently I'm living in east Africa, in the country of Djibouti, where I'm teaching English at the local (and only) University.  Gender equality, especially in sports, is a problem here.  To address the issue, I'm working in collaboration with another non-profit to organize a 5K aimed at promoting women's participation in sports, in celebration of International Women's Day (March 8th).  After one of last year's women finishers came in at 21 minutes, but barefoot, we decided that we wanted to raise enough money to provide all women finishers of this year's race with a pair of running shoes.

I have attached a letter that explains everything more in depth, so I won't spend too much time here.  However I want to thank you in advance for your time, and if you could please let me know what your interest may be in this cause, I would greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,

Philip Dierking
